How it works

The agency's assistant sends a brief. It gets the matching opportunities, not a database.

For media planners and marketing managers: give your AI assistant access to all the media opportunities in your market. Follow these instructions to get started.

  1. Paste the lineYour assistant reads the setup and adds the connector. No terminal.
  2. Sign in in your browserWith your work email. Advertisers need no account beforehand.
  3. Describe your campaignAudience, place, dates, budget. Your assistant writes the brief.
  4. Choose with your assistantEvery good match, with the criteria it fits, sources and dates. Your assistant helps you pick.

How it works

From your brief to the matches, in four steps.

  1. A · Your brief
    In your words

Describe the campaign to your AI assistant: audience, place, dates, budget. It writes the brief for you and sends it to us.

  2. B · The inventory
    All opportunities

We check every sponsorship, branded content, podcast, newsletter and event, each described in detail, to retrieve the best opportunities.

  3. C · The audiences
    All audiences

We make sure these opportunities have great audiences for what you're looking for.

  4. D · The matches
    Every good match

Each match comes with the reason it fits, and the source behind every figure is sent back to your AI assistant. Your AI assistant makes the selection.

Questions

Before you connect.

What is an MCP?

MCP, the Model Context Protocol, is an open standard that lets an AI assistant connect to outside tools and data. OpenBrief is one of those connections: once your assistant has it, it can search Canadian media opportunities and send briefs for you.

Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot and other assistants that support MCP servers can use it.

How do I get my AI assistant to use it?

Paste the line from the install card, in the Query section of this page, into your assistant. It reads the setup, adds the OpenBrief connector and asks you to sign in. No terminal, no skill, no plugin.

Prefer to do it by hand? In Claude, open Settings, then Connectors, then Add custom connector, and paste https://mcp.openbrief.media/mcp. Any assistant that supports remote MCP servers works the same way.

Can I use this without my AI assistant?

No. OpenBrief is built to be used through your AI assistant. You describe the campaign to it and it does the searching for you.

How do you handle sensitive data?

The advertiser name is not a field in a brief, so it never reaches OpenBrief. Free text is redacted before anything is written, and a test scans the database on every release to confirm that no organization name is stored.

Media see demand in aggregate. A breakdown appears only when it covers at least 5 briefs, so a figure never points to one advertiser. Each media can read and edit only its own inventory, enforced in the database itself.

Does this replace AdCP?

No. AdCP is about how agents buy and sell standard advertising inventory. OpenBrief covers what does not fit in a standard slot: sponsorships, branded content, podcasts, newsletters, events and the media that sell them.

A media can be in both. Each opportunity is described in the publisher's own words with a standardized version next to it, so it can travel to other protocols.

As a media, how can I update my database and information?

Through your own assistant. Share your offer, rate card or audience data as a PDF or a link and it builds a draft that you review before anything is published. Later, say what changed: « The special housing 2028 issue is sold » is enough.

The media console shows imports, every change and the history. Log in from the top of this page.

What does it cost?

Advertisers and agencies: free. The whole database and the connection to your assistant, at no cost.

Media: listing your media is free. The Pro plan shows the briefs you miss and alerts you when demand arrives, priced by the size of the media.

Which media and audiences are covered?

Canadian media from local to national, in French and in English: magazines, podcasts, newsletters, radio, television, events and online media. The number on this page counts the media whose information has been read, and it moves every week.

Every audience figure carries its source and date. When a publisher states an audience in its own words, you see those words.

Do you sell media or take a commission?

No. OpenBrief finds the fit and prepares the introduction. Rates, negotiation and contracts stay between you and the media.

Why is this better than a search or a rate card?

A search finds pages. A brief carries a target, a place, dates, a budget and brand-safety limits, and the match keeps only the opportunities where all of them overlap. Media that refuse your category are left out, and the reason is shown.
